Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to help improve the Moray Firth and learn new skills. Whether you're interested in improving places for nature, gaining work experience or are looking for an alternative to working out in the gym, there is a great variety of organisations that offer opportunities for volunteering in the outdoors.

If you would like to give some time to supporting one of the many voluntary organisations and projects that are working for the Moray Firth, be it environmental, cultural or social, the link below will take you to more information about the many opportunities.

BTCV Green Gym
Co-ordinate a wide range of practical projects in and around Inverness offering many opportunities for people to become actively involved, gain new skills and experiences and make a positive contribution to the local environment and communities.

Volunteering Scotland

Marine Conservation Society
Marine Conservation Society operate the Adopt a Beach scheme and BeachWatch to help prevent marine and coastal litter. As a volunteer co-ordinator organising beach litter surveys, you can collect valuable information for use locally, nationally and internationally.

Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society
A variety of options exist to support the work of the WDCS.  Two centres are located in the Moray Firth, one at Spey and the other at North Kessock.

John Muir Trust
The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places. It encourages awareness and responsibility for the natural environment, in a spirit of fun, adventure and exploration.

Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT)
SWT has a network of committed volunteers who are involved in everything from planting trees and repairing boardwalks to organising management groups, giving talks on wildlife, surveying flora and fauna, raising important funds and running Watch groups for young people. It's not all trees and muck! There are volunteers who help with database management, reserve photography, marketing and administration.

Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB)
There are many volunteering roles within the RSPB - you can give as much or as little time as you like, whether it is one hour, one day, one week, a whole month or more!  The RSPB has reserves around the Moray Firth that offers volunteering opportunities.
