Election of Directors
There can be up to seven directors, including the Chair. All directors are voluntary and unpaid. Directors are selected on the basis of the experience they can bring to the board, and not as representatives of any particular interest group, employer or nominating body.

One third of the directors are required to stand down annually at the Annual General Meeting, but may stand again for re-election.

Nominating someone as a Director
Details of how to apply or to nominate someone as a director are sent out with the Notice calling each annual general meeting, or can be obtained at any time from the Partnership Manager. The MFP welcomes applications from any interested individuals. Applicants must be, or become a member of the Partnership.

The Chair
The Chair is elected annually by the Board of Directors at their first meeting following the Annual General Meeting.

Sinclair Young retired as the Moray Firth Partnership Chair on 19 November 2008 after almost 2 years in the role. Sinclair has been an excellent Chair and we are extremely grateful for all his hard work and guidance. His determination to propel the 2007 Moray Firth Flotilla to fruition, having originally conceived the idea, provided one of the highlights of the Highland Year of Culture celebrations. We are delighted that he has agreed to remain on the Board of Directors and look forward to the continued benefit of his knowledge and experience. Maureen Macmillan was unanimously elected as the new MFP Chair at the Board meeting following the AGM, becoming the first woman to take the Partnership helm. Maureen is a former MSP and member of the Environment Committee that instigated enquiries into the marine & coastal environment. She was elected to the MFP Board of Directors in February. We wish her all the very best in her new role .
