Biodiversity

Biodiversity is short for “biological diversity”, or the variety of plants and animals. The marine and coastal areas of the Moray Firth hold a rich variety, including species of national and international importance. Information on this local biodiversity can be found at the Highland Environment Forum and the North East Scotland Biodiversity Partnership websites.   The Highland BAP 2015-2020 updates on progress made since the biodiversity action planning process started in Highland in 2002. The Plan summarises some of the projects that have been undertaken to deliver biodiversity improvements over the last 14 years, and identifies 33 priorities for future work. For each, a number of projects have been identified, with a lead partner taking on the responsibility to work with other HEF members to deliver action over the next five years.

More information on associated habitats and species is contained within the overall UK Biodiversiy Action Plan web site: www.ukbap.org.uk
